About The Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation

The Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation awards $3,000 non-renewable scholarships annually and has awarded over $3,000,000 in scholarship money to Michigan high school seniors since its founding by The Detroit News and Detroit Public Schools in 1980.

Statement From The Board Regarding The Supreme Court Decision on Affirmative Action

The Rosa L. Parks Scholarship Foundation’s mission is to award scholarships to Michigan high school seniors who hold close to Mrs. Parks' ideals. Rosa Parks dedicated her life to dismantling Jim Crow segregation and the legacies of the institution of slavery. She fought for equal access, equal justice and fair outcomes. There is no doubt she would have been disappointed by the recent Supreme Court decision restricting the consideration of race in college admissions. Our mission to help provide college opportunities for all is more urgent than ever.
